System and Installation Requirements Highway Roadmap Management System v1.0
Highway is a SQL and web-based application, and you should have the infrastructure required to host such an application prior to purchase.
Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)
- IIS 6 or IIS 7 required
- ASP Classic shoudl be enabled if using IIS 7
- You should refer the person(s) responsible for the management of your IIS web server to the installation guidelines provided on the Documentation page to ensure that he/she is capable of installing the Highway User Interface.
Microsoft SQL Server 2005
- A valid MS SQL Server 2005 license is required. The Highway database can be installed on any version of SQL Server 2005, including SQL Server 2005 Express.
- Your SQL Server database administrator should possess the skills necessary to effectively manage SQL Server databases, including the configuration of database backups. You should refer him/her to the installation guidelines provided on the Documentation page to ensure he/she is capable installing the Highway database and setting up the ODBC data source required by Highway.
User Interface
Highway provides a web-based user interface. The user interface has been fully tested with Microsoft Internet Explorer 7, and as such is the supported web browser for Highway usage. Users of other web browsers should access the on-line demo and determine suitability.
Product/technology roadmapping involves a lot of data presented visually. As such, using Highway with a low screen resolution is strongly discouraged. Screen resolutions below 1280x1024 will, in our opinion, render Highway unfit for purpose. We recommend users of Highway to have a screen resolution of at least 1280x1024, preferrably higher. A wide aspect display is also beneficial.
Highway users will require Microsoft Excel 2003 or later to export data from highway.
Installation
In addition to the required skills described above, the person installing Highway should have a login account on the Highway host PC/server with permission to manage IIS, SQL Server and troubleshoot file permissions often associated with website configuration.
